Of course, when players move, appearing before 5,000 welcoming fans, they tend to say the have fulfilled their lifelong ambition and all that shit. Ditto Robbie, that he fulfilled his boyhood dream – except that many thought he already did 19 months ago.

He declared as he appeared before the fans: “I’ve been a Celtic fan for years and always wanted to play for them. I’ve dreamed of this moment.”

Just after joining Liverpool, the Irishman had said: “I am a Liverpool fan. Joining Liverpool is a lifelong dream.”

Evidently, he needs little persuasion joining his “childhood” clubs.

“They are a massive club and, as a Celtic fan, I didn’t need much persuading to come here.”

A year ago, as he joined Liverpool: “They are a massive club and, as a fan, they didn’t have to sell themselves to Robbie Keane.”

Seems like he has plenty of clubs he is a fan of. Should be expecting more of the same when he signs for Cork City.
