Why RHB Bank justifies their motto of Banking Simplified.

As mentioned and highlighted before, RHB Bank is conveniently located just beside my office.

Naturally, it would make sense and be ideal for me to want to open an account with them since they are so conveniently located. To my disappointment, I found out that they have no internet banking enabled which means I have to wait for month end statements before I can check my account (who still does that?!)

Therefore, despite it being 1 door away, I still do not have an account with them.

On a trip thereafter to Malaysia, I finally understood why they had no internet banking when I saw their billboard on the NS highway. They were simply living up to their company motto.

It read: BANKING SIMPLIFIED.

My office is situated in an enclave of expensive properties (inevitably host to plenty of ministers too), which explains why there is every bank available in the vicinity, from DBS, UOB to MayBank, RHB, RBS, to the more exotic Bank of China & Bank of India.

We happen to be just beside RHB Bank & directly opposite UOB.

On a regular day, this might be what happens.

Auntie walks in, looks around, tries to look for the counter or the queue (actually no queue since you technically don’t have to queue at RHB), then asks whether this is RHB.

Couple of minutes later, the phone rings.

Lady on the phone: “Hi, is this UOB Katong?”

I think I should propose for us to be renamed TyreBank soon.

Updated:
January 12, 2010: Lady calls up, looks for DBS.

For a better illustration on how people can actually mistake us for RHB Bank.
