Summer in America usually means movie blockbusters, and also heralds the end of most seasons of the television series. It’s also D-Day for most of the series as the major networks would announce the fate of most.
Of the shows I watch, veteran reality shows like Amazing Race & Survivor refuse to die after a decade, Smallville will fly with a decade celebration, Lost decided they had everyone lost enough they would stop.
New debutants, Flash Forward didn’t accomplish enough despite a full season run, Glee has been musically inclined to continue dancing, and Community will continue providing communal laughs.
Many of the series I stick to are still hanging in limbo though, with OTH, Heroes all stuck in the gutter. I’m amazed NBC are even deliberating on Chuck though – where else do you find a nerd you can identify with that pulls in the hot chicks as a part-time spy? Or, and now he can sing with an American Idol too! I hope they don’t else the Nerd Herd might have to do something ala the nuts from Jericho (though that failed to save it)
