As we reach the end of the noughties, and enter the age of a new decade, shorter seems to be the new YOU. For the Internet at least.
Twitter has always been an active user of the shortened bit.ly as they have been limited with their 140 character tweets. Facebook has decided they shouldn’t be lagging behind, and have introduced FB.me. If you have a fan page like www.facebook.com/tyrepac, the same www.FB.me/tyrepac goes to the same page. Of course, it works similarly for normal profile pages, so www.facebook.com/linus.koh can instead be linked from www.FB.me/linus.koh. Try it!
Google has also been using their own shorteners of late, with the goo.gl domain, though so far it has been reserved for their own use, Google says that in time, it may offer such an option. (which could be very much sooner rather than later)
Not to be outdone, Google owned YouTube is doing it with new YouTube videos being available on www.youtu.be on top of the conventional www.youtube.com.
