In its heyday, Shima was packed to the rafters, weekday or weekend, lunch or dinner. Today, it has given up the 2nd floor of the restaurant to Goodwood Park Hotel, and a further indication of how it has fallen from grace was the fact that we were the only diners for the BBQ Buffet, which used to be their staple selling point. Perhaps, it was due to the fact that few know that they have resumed their BBQ Buffet (of which I had only discovered as I was writing about Tajimaya).

I used to whack a lot on the Ebi Tempura (prawns) – easily over 20 at one seating, but they were disappointing this time around. Probably due to the fact that the lacklustre crowd meant they had already cooked them beforehand, subsequent orders meant we were just getting cold servings. The usual Shishamo that was available for BBQ also became tempura fried (and replaced by the eel), but personally have never been a big fan of it.

Sashimi was delectably fresh, as were the prawns. The best items would have to be a toss up between the chicken or the beef, both well-seasoned and cut appropriately. I think I need to have a second opinion to decide. = D

The garlic fried rice was classically good. Especially if you love garlic. Lots of garlic.
