Facebook seems to have really taken Singapore by storm, with approximately 131,730 members in the Singapore network at the moment, and probably many more who have lost their way around the network function. That is approximately 2.9% of the Singapore population, and considering the fact that when I joined barely two months ago where there were about 38,000 members (or 0.8% of the population) in the Singapore network, it is growing at an astronomical rate.

Furthermore, fuelled by the extensive media coverage in the Straits Times & The New Paper, its no surprise there has been a spike in Singaporeans joining. Little wonder there is talk the value could be valued at an astonishing $2 billion, though it remains to be seen if anyone is willing to cough up that amount, since MySpace only cost NewsCorp $580 million. Facebook is slowly eating up market share, and despite revenues being far lower than MySpace, I wouldn’t bet against them taking pole spot eventually.

Adieu Friendster, embrace Facebook.
